Our 1st Year Anniversary!

Posted: Aug 01 2014

This is my first year anniversary of running the business full time!!

It has been a challenging and great year - filled with learning and doing... all the best things...
Thank you so much for all of your help in getting SLC-SLC to this point!! Couldn't do it without your support!
Sarah Xx

There are too many highlights and thank you's to mention, here's a few:

Some highlights this year have been The Suffolk Show, where I had my first ever shop to myself!! In such a creative

and collaborative environment in Fifth Avenue :-)

Being featured in The Times by Hilary Rose, who has supported SLC-SLC right from 2011 when I started up

part time! This always means a lot, and I was very chuffed to be mentioned alongside Alexander McQueen

Suffolk Fashion Week with Pam at Fashion Candy; this was such a professional event and SO much fun!!

The fittings; back stage; watching the show, everything! Great to design a collection for it!

I also loved meeting all the students and teachers at St Jo's School's Charity Fashion Catwalk, where I met lots

of lovely local people and enthusiasm.

My business trip to Lens, with other Creative Entrepeneurs :) It was great getting to know everyone better and being

given this opportunity by the EEHub

If you're wondering if you shoud do it, don't wonder... do it! Get involved, it's a great thing

I also have to say a massive thank you to the EEHUB at Ipswich Waterfront, who have supported me right from

the start, Chris Schutt, in particular who's offered me advice and a supportive environment, full of learning and fun.

(at this point also a thanks to Luke Gussman, a very inspirational entrepeneur who's given us talks and intro'd me to the Hub)

Meeting the talented John Ferguson, who's photographed so many interesting famous fashion icons and leaders, who did beautiful photography for us :-)

Big thank you's to Love One in Ipswich, Cathy Frost is such an amazing mentor to new creative
businesses and I'm so pleased to be working with her and stocking SLC-SLC in  her beautiful and innovative store!
Ipswich's smallest department store!
I also want to say a thanks to Laura, our lovely London stylist,  who's stocking SLC-SLC in Katharine Bird, Clapham
This means a lot, and  it's great to see SLC-SLC alongside great designers such as Marlene Birger and Orla Keily
Katharine Bird is such a unique boutique, with great styling advice and a personal touch, it suits
SLC-SLC's ethos perfectly

Not forgetting our lovely online stockists, with particular reference to NOTHS who have been an excellent business to collaborate with!

Working with young and talented people such as Georgia, our fabulous model and Bonnie, our beautiful Botswanan model...
Running workshops in screen printing with other school children who have so much enthusiasm, we particularly
liked Becky's pineapple print earlier in the year :)
Creating two jobs for local seamstress' who were looking for work and there wasn't work for seamstress' any more in this area for them. It's fantastic to be filling that need! These ladies have a lot of skills which shouldn't be wasted...
Pat, who taught me how to sew and always offers invaluable advice on everything!!
Last, but not at all least, my lovely family - particularly my excellent Mum!
